Almost 4 and still won't go #2
Hi All! I’ve posted about this before and I’m not sure what to do anymore. Our daughter will turn 4 in November and she still won’t poop on the potty. She holds it and goes in her pull up at night. When she has to go she grabs herself and holds it in, until she has an accident. Our Ped told us to give her Miralax everyday. Three months later it’s not working. She’ll scream in pain she needs to go to the potty but then she holds it in until her body takes over. We know it has hurt her in the past and it’s a fear. We have awesome reward system and sticker chart in place. We’ve done role playing. We ignore it as much as we can as to not empower the behavior…but we really want to help her. Any suggestions? Do we need to see a gastro as the PED suggested even though she goes almost every night? A psychologist? HELP!
Once fear creeps in it can be nearly impossible to get them to go. For stool to pass easy, you have… -
potty training
So, I’m in the process of trying to potty train my son. We have tried pull ups, cloth and plastic underwear, or both together to not make a mess. However, my son is very stubborn! He will not care one week and then the next he will be using the pot, getting his stickers and getting his potty prizes, along with either holding his pee till he gets to a bathroom or telling us he has to use the potty and go poop. He absolutely hates pooping on the pop, which is where most the problem lies. He says it hurts his butt. I know he is coming around but I wanna make it easier on him if it does hurt. Any ideas would help out so much! Half the time, or rather more than half, he just doesn’t care nor want to. We keep a scheduled routine with him, as I know is vital and so is not giving up and keeping at it, but it doesn’t seem to make much of a difference most of the time. He is very smart and wants to be a big boy and knows what that entails but doesn’t wanna poop on the pot all that well. He is 3 and I have a niece who is way past the age of diapers and is giving my sister and brother in law problems with potty training. I fear he will go down that road if I don’t do something and stick to it. My son, Ethan, is so smart but so stubborn at the same time! Lol

Do you use diapers, pull-ups or underwear? Why?
As I worked with clients on potty training over the years I developed my own mindset (based on research) when it comes to potty training methods and tools during and after potty training. I am curious about yours and what type of tools you are using. Do you use diapers, pull-ups or underwear? Why?
Very well said. How does that work for some of your parents? I believe it is extremely important to… -

Starting to wet again…
My son was very easy to potty train. He has been in underwear since he was about 2. He has been consistently dry without accidents for over 2 months. In the past week he has had an accident at school everyday 🙁 The teachers say they are taking him to potty just as often as before. He has had one or two accidents at home this week as well. Has anyone else experienced this?

Potty training for the second, third…child.
Have you found that potty training the second or third (or more) time around gets easier? Or it is more challenging to be consistent because you now have older children and multiple routines to manage?

Does the cost of diapers motivate you to potty train earlier?
30% of the women interviewed for a new study published Monday in the journal Pediatrics said they’d experienced a time when they could not afford to buy the diapers their kids needed: http://www.nbcnews.com/health/it-made-me-feel-ashamed-poor-moms-anguish-over-diaper-6C10775589 Was the cost of diapers a motivator for you to potty train your kids earlier?
