A grieving mother's mission to stop hot car deaths

While I was sitting at Nissan getting my oil changed this morning I was watching CNN and a mother was being interviewed about the tragic death of her 15 month old son this past summer. He died because he was accidentally left in a hot car. Now her husband and her have come up with a bill to try to come up with some sort of technology that can detect when there is a child in the back seat. Here is her story.

  1. Unfortunately I don’t have any sympathy for the person who is responsible for leaving a baby in the car. It really must be hard to be the other parent and stand by your spouses side. However, since we are on the path of having our cars virtually drive themselves so we can get on with our texting and facebooking, any technology to help is great.

  2. Wow- what a strong woman. I’m sure it definitely is an honest mistake for most parents and I agree that developing some sort of technology in cars that could notify the driver of backseat passengers would be great! On the other hand, I understand why many car manufacturers are hesitate due to liability reasons. If the device were to malfunction they could be to blame, but if even a single life could be saved it would be worth it in my opinion.
