Another tooth discussion- enamel defect

Any parents out there with little ones that have an enamel defect? I just took my 21 month old to the dentist for the 2nd time and found out he has this. A procedure to restore his front two teeth will have to be performed in order to save them. I’m a nervous wreck. It sounds as though he’ll have to go under minor sedation because the anesthesiologist at this pediatric dentists office won’t or can’t ? give children under 26 lbs anesthesia. He’ll be put in one of those straight jackets and I’m sick to my stomach thinking about this. Has anyone with little ones had any dental procedures performed? What was your experience? Thanks.

  1. My daughter had a mild enamel issue last year. But after putting mi paste on nightly, it went away. Will be thinking about your little one and your nerves through all of this!

  2. That sounds as hard for you as it does for him! Hopefully the mild sedative will work and calm him down enough so he sleeps through the procedure. Good luck!

  3. I hope everything goes well! Are the enamel problems from eating acidic foods? I can’t remember where, but I recently read an article about acidic foods and tooth enamel. My son loves strawberries and eats them almost every day. I think strawberries were mentioned specifically in the article. I may need to start changing things up a bit!

  4. Thanks for the replies, I forgot to follow the discussion, so I’m just now seeing these! Honestly, the dentist said he was born with this Leah. I’ve never heard of mi paste Stephanie. I wish I’d known about it sooner, I would’ve tried it before it got this bad. My next step is a second opinion. I’ll keep you updated!
