Hi Lory! The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends waiting on first foods until six month of age. Until then breast milk or formula is the perfect source of nutrition for most babies. Talk with your pediatrician if you have concerns that your baby needs solids earlier. There is no role for juice in the diet of babies or toddlers. Think of juice like you think of soda – as a sweet. Juice fills them up without any meaningful vitamins and can contribute to tooth decay. Water is the appropriate liquid to give babies older than six months as well as toddlers and preschoolers.
