Can you keep lifting weights in pregnancy?

The short answer is yes – if you’ve been lifting weights already, it’s OK to continue (though you may need to modify some exercises a bit). We’ve covered exercise in pregnancy here at Bundoo, but the Washington Post had a nice article about exercising in pregnancy recently, along with some pictures. Check it out if you are expecting! http://wapo.st/1lhGrkH

  1. This is great! I’m pregnant and working out with a trainer, still lifting weights and doing (almost) everything I was before. I do make sure to discuss exercise with my OB at every visit to make sure his recommendations (basically to stay active and keep it up but be careful on stairs, and listen to my body as my belly grows) haven’t changed. I love that my trainer is experienced training pregnant women and while he makes sure I’m careful and stay hydrated, he doesn’t take it easy on me. I’m hoping that by strengthening my back and hips, I’ll avoid the back pain that sometimes comes along with the latter stages of pregnancy.
