Doulas seeking wider acceptance
We’ve previously written about what doulas are, in case you’re not familiar with the term or what their exact role is: http://www.bundoo.com/articles/what-is-a-doula/
But with the use of doulas becoming more and more popular, some are still looking for better acceptance in the medical field. Some are also requesting that their services be covered by health insurance:

Did you use a doula? Would you have if it was covered by your insurance?

Very interesting… I didn’t use a doula with either of my pregnancies, but I would have seriously considered it if insurance would have helped cover the cost. I didn’t see any financial sense in employing an additional person on my own dime when my OB was fully covered by my insurance.
I did not but have many families in my practice who used a doula with great success. For me, having another person was just a distraction but others like the support.
