  1. A couple of thoughts: maybe she is not interested in food yet or maybe she wants to be in control. Try offering her tiny cut up pieces of avocado or steamed sweet potato, things she can pick up and put ini her mouth or squish between her fingers. The introduction of solid food is was much about experimenting with flavors and textures as much as nutrition.

  2. I would say she’s declaring loud and clear that she is not ready. Not all babies are interested in food at exactly six months. If she is growing well and otherwise drinking her breast milk or formula, then solids are not necessary at this time. Give her a couple more weeks to grow and mature, then try again.

  3. We had this experience with our first child. I think because you hear that 6 months is the time you feel like that must mean your baby is ready… But we forget about those readiness cues which are just as important for feeding as they are for potty training (and we all hear about those readiness cues much more!)
