Good news about Tdap and flu shots for pregnant women

Both the Tdap and flu shots are recommended in pregnancy, and a new study has confirmed that it is safe for pregnant women to receive both vaccines in the same visit. This is good news since some women may be due for their Tdap (generally recommended between 28-36 weeks of pregnancy) at the same time they would also need to get their flu shot (which is OK anytime in pregnancy). And with flu season in the works, this is good news all around!

  1. Pediatricians are also administering both Tdap and the flu shot to parents and caregivers – saving a trip to the doctor for busy families. Be sure to inquire about cost before receiving yours – depending on your insurance you may need to pay up front then send your bill and receipt into your insurance company for reimbursement. Getting your flu shot alongside your child is a great way to model healthy behaviors!

    1. That’s so great that pediatrics offices are doing this! I should have checked with my son’s before I went to an urgent care to get mine – it would have been much easier!
