It’s sunscreen time again! Melanoma is on the rise!

A new study, reported this week at the annual meeting of cancer specialists, indicates that the most deadly form of skin cancer is on the rise. The incidence of melanoma has increased by 250% since the 1970’s. Researchers are studying why but one factor we know contributes to melanoma is ultraviolet light exposure from sun or tanning beds. As summer is right around the corner, this is a good reminder to pick up some sunscreen and SPF protective clothing for your kids! I’d love to hear what everyone is using this year!

  1. Right now we have Honest company, Babyganics, CeraVe and Alba sunscreen but all seem to cause my son’s sensitive skin to break out in little bumps on his cheeks. Anyone with suggestions for easy-on-the-skin-sunscreen?

    1. I need suggestions as well! My son breaks out with any sunscreen we use. The rash doesn’t seem to bother him (no itching or anything), so it’s still better to use it than not.

  2. Original Sprouts sunscreen is a non-greasy formula that worked out for my family. It’s not water-resistant so it’s not appropriate for the pool, but it’s perfect for normal school days, or a stroll in the park.
