Lap colic: Fact or fiction!

Lap colic: Fact or fiction!

My 5 week old baby will sleep in any condition as long as she is being held. She may sleep for four hours hours at a time in your arms but wake up instantly if you set her down for any reason. Some people say i shouldnt spoil her but i cant let my sweet little baby girl just sit there and cry. Im still not sure if you can even spoil a 5 week old! Either way call it what you want i cant let my little sweetheart cry at 5 weeks old.

  1. Back when we were in your shoes I think my wife could recite what “statistics show” or what “the experts say”. If I remember correctly, 5 weeks is too young for them to learn to manipulate a parent, so cuddle away! As time goes on and she gets older, you’ll learn the real cries from the fake ones, but they are all hard to listen to…

  2. Enjoy this sweet time in your baby’s life! You will certainly not spoil her by making her feel safe. Soon enough she will develop self-soothing skills to help her fall (and stay) asleep on her own but at this young age she looks to her parents for security.

  3. My son is 17 days old and this is totally him. He just loves laying on my chest. He can be sleeping so good with his mouth open and minutes later, maybe even seconds after I put him down he is up but the moment I hold him again he gets comfy and is back asleep. It happens alot more at night.

  4. My son was exactly the same way at first. It took a little while, but he eventually got over having to be held constantly! Just enjoy the sweet snuggles while you can! I miss the days when my son would sleep on my chest. Now he points at the crib and says “night night” when I try to rock him and sing to him. 🙁 They do grow up so fast!
