Newborn Sleeping in their own Room

Newborn Sleeping in their own Room

I’m having a hard time getting my newborn to sleep for more then 1 hour in his own room in his crib. If he sleeps in his swing or bassinet, he sleeps for hours. Any suggestions??

  1. Your baby is soothed by the commotion they are exposed to in the swing and bassinet. Newborns tend to sleep better in tight quarters and with some subtle background noise. (Think of how they felt in the womb). They typically get both of these in a swing and bassinet. The crib is in a more secluded environment with more room as well. Make sure to swaddle your baby nice and snug. You can also try playing a CD of anything really, they really just like to hear some kind of noise, but music probably sounds better to you through the monitor. 🙂

    1. When he sleeps now he doesn’t like to be swaddled. However, i’ll try to go back to swaddling and try some music. Thank you 😀

  2. I used to put on the same CD every single time my youngest son went to sleep in his crib. I thought maybe he would get used to the routine and know it was time to sleep when he heard the same music come on day after day. Out of my two boys, he was the better sleeper so who knows, maybe that is what did the trick!

    1. I did the same thing. It was the Jewel “Lullaby” CD. It even reminds me of sweet babies and sleep when I hear it now. 🙂
