Hi Jerry. These are great questions. Babies are awake at night because they need to eat every 2 to four hours night and day during the first few months. They slowly begin to sleep for longer stretches around three to four months but many do not sleep more than six hours in a row for the first six months. Feed her when she wakes and keep lights and sounds very soft during nighttime hours so she leans the difference between night and day. Always put her to sleep in her own safe sleep space such as her crib. Be patient and check in frequently with her doctor to discuss her progress. Good luck!
