Pityriasis alba

Does anyone out there have children with Pityriasis alba? My 4.5 year old has had this condition since he was a year old. He also suffers from eczema. We took him to a dermatologist at age 3, and he said it should go away around the age of 5. It’s still very prominent and I wondered if anyone out there has experience with it? Thanks!

  1. I actually have it, Alexe, and was diagnosed as a pre-teen. I rarely have issues with it now as an adult and it really became less and less of an issue over time. By college it was pretty much gone.

    1. Really Stephanie!? I just hope it will go away soon. He’s so tan and the white, discolored areas on his legs are so noticeable on him.

  2. Did the derm give you anything for it?

    1. No, nothing Stephanie. Can you recommend something? We are about to start using coconut oil for his eczema. Currently we’re using Hydrolatum (behind the pharmacy counter). It worked great over the summer, but now that it’s cold it’s flaring up something horrible. I have heard fab things about coconut oil, so we’ll give it a shot.
