Planning pregnancy at the age of 30

Hello,
I’m not sure if I sound stupid. Still lemme ask.
I have just gotten married 2 months ago. I have always had a desire to be a mother. I n my husband have a very busy work schedule. Sometimes we dnt even get to sit together fr days. Sex is out of question coz of this. Sometimes I do night shift n he days. That makes it more worse. Anyways, we cant really do anything about the work timings really.
I recently had periods n a little spotting for 3-4 days after a week of my periods with terrible stomach aches n all. I visited gynac n she did a UPT n test was negative. She gave sm medicines n concluded that its due to hormonal changes.
My question is due you really have hormonal changes after marriage even if u dont have frequent Sex?
N second most imp.question, how do I work out things that we get time for each other and plan pregnancy?
Thanks 🙂

  1. Hi Kaneez, Congrats on your marriage but I am sorry about the crazy work schedules you are both experiencing. Your problem about how to find time for sex is a common one, especially with both partners working – and opposite shifts at that. I am not sure exactly what hormonal changes your doctor diagnosed you with, but I would start simple. If you are trying to get pregnant, first make sure you are on a prenatal vitamin with enough folic acid. Then it’s time to figure out when you are most likely to get pregnant, so you can use the little time you have to have sex when it has the best chance of working! You can figure that out based on our article here: http://www.bundoo.com/articles/when-to-have-sex-if-you-are-trying-to-conceive/

The bottom line is: you have to have sex to get pregnant, and it’s normal for it to take more than one cycle to get pregnant. If it’s important to you, setting an alarm on your phone for when it’s time may sound silly, but it can help you both remember to prioritize this. It doesn’t have to take long, but if you can find time during the day or night that works best for you you will be glad you did. Good luck!

  2. Can you and/or your husband plan your schedules in advance? Perhaps you could look at the next 3-4 months ahead and try to choose off days at the best windows for getting pregnant.
