This is why we vaccinate…
Here’s a link to a story of an outbreak of, yet another, vaccine-preventable illness. Since my son isn’t old enough to have the MMR vaccine, it scares me to think that he’s at risk if he is in an environment with people who choose not to vaccinate themselves or their children.

Thanks for the post, Laura. As a pediatrician, I agree. I think we forget how important the concept of herd immunity is to our children who are too young or to those who are too sick to be vaccinated. Vaccination protects those who cannot be vaccinated.
So sad for those children, especially the four-month-old , who is ill due to his parents’ decision. We are all influenced by the media, our community and people we know… so kudos to you, Laura, for spreading the word on why vaccines are so important!
