Toddler Cry Room Etiquette?

Toddler Cry Room Etiquette?

For those of you that attend church, do you let your toddlers run loose, approach other kids, and play loudly? Or do you try to explain church, and have them try to pay attention to the service? I personally try to get them to interact as much as possible during the actual mass, then bring kids prayer books, or quiet coloring activities. Keep in mind I’m not a regular church-goer, (trying to be though!) and was surprised to see so much chaos in the cry room.

  1. The church I go to does not have a cry room. I’ve been better about taking my 3 year old lately. She is pretty good and does try to follow along with the mass. I agree that there should not be children going crazy in the cry room though. How will they ever learn the proper behavior in church if they are allowed to do whatever they want in the cry room?

    1. That’s what I thought Shelley too! I’m hoping to leave this room soon and participate with the grown ups!

  2. The church I go to has a children’s program, so my kiddos go to that right at the beginning of the service. It’s split up by age and they have age-appropriate activities for each group. When I’ve had the kids in the service with me, I’ve tried to bring a coloring activity, like you said, so they have something quiet to occupy them.
