When is Bed Wetting a Concern?

I could use some parenting and/or medical tips. My 5 year old sleeps 12 hours…and has been dry in the morning for weeks. So we threw out the pull ups, bought disposable bed pads, and are washing the sheets 3-4 days a week now. I take her to the bathroom before bed at 7, and again before I go to bed at 10 or 11, and she’s still wet more often than not. My friends kids have been dry for 2 years. Are all kids different? Or is this a concern? She gets diaper rash (and hates!) pull ups or good nights, but I’m so over all the laundry!

  1. The short answer is that all kids are different & bed wetting at this age is still pretty common. Nevertheless, I would let her pediatrician know what is happening so they can do a thorough exam in order to make sure what she is experiencing doesn’t indicate anything serious. Good luck!

  2. My 3 year old still has accidents at night also. I think this is normal, but the problem we face is that the pull ups always leak! It drives me crazy! We’ve changed sizes, taken her potty right before putting her down, but it never fails…she wakes up at least 2/3 times a weak laying in pee. 🙁
