Truthfully, children can choke on any food or liquid, but there are certain foods that pose a higher risk of choking.
Always be cautious around foods such as hot dogs, hard candy, peanuts, tree nuts, seeds, whole grapes, raw carrots, apples, popcorn, chunks of peanut butter, chunks of cheese, marshmallows, chewing gum, sausages, and raisins.
Cutting these foods into smaller pieces, watching closely while your child eats, and eating in a safe space such as at the table instead of on the go, can all reduce a child's risk of choking.
