Do I need to drink milk to make breast milk?

Despite this being a common myth, the answer is no.

Lots of breastfeeding myths exist, and this happens to be yet another one. If you don’t like to drink milk or don’t consume it because of your diet, have no fear: your body will still produce breast milk, and it will still contain the nutrients your baby needs. As long as you get calcium from other food sources — such as green vegetables or nuts — you don’t need the calcium that drinking milk provides.
