During the holidays, even children experience added stress in the form of schedule changes and new experiences.
Children show they are stressed by being demanding, whining, and acting out.
Adding extra activities, even positive ones, to what is usually an already busy life can sometimes be too much for our kids. We want to give our children all the wonderful experiences the season has to offer but sometimes it's just too much. Particularly with our infants and toddlers, taking each day a bit slower will benefit them (and you) by moderating their stress levels.
If possible, try to maintain routine especially around mealtimes and bedtime as children feel calmed by the familiar. Lastly, keeping our own expectations for ourselves and our kids will help us stay calm and happy. Modeling a sense of peace is vital to having peaceful children.
