I’m leaking breast milk during sex — is this normal?

Yes! The same hormone involved in orgasm – oxytocin – is also the hormone that can cause a woman’s milk to let down.

Sex can certainly be different after having a baby, and leaking breast milk during the act is one change that may seem extremely odd. However, this phenomenon is totally normal and is related to oxytocin. Some women are bothered by this, while others don’t mind at all. If you find it bothersome or messy, try to nurse or pump just before having sex. This can help decrease the amount of milk you leak. Keeping a bra on (with or without nursing pads, depending on how much you typically leak) can help.
