Saturated fat comes from animals like beef or poultry (think of the fat around a piece of meat, the white marbling within meat, or the skin on poultry), or products made from animals, like milk, eggs, and cheese.
Saturated fat has been linked to the development of heart disease, and experts recommend limiting the amount of saturated fat in the diet. This simply means choosing lower fat dairy products (after age two), leaner cuts of meat, and watching portion sizes of foods made with high fat ingredients (read: baked goods).
