Do not give your baby water until they are six months old. Water is okay to give to your baby between meals and milk feedings or snacks, especially in hot weather. However, it’s important to remember that babies rely on breast milk or formula in the first six months of life to provide their nutritional requirements.
At 6 months of age, solid food is introduced, initially for learning how to eat, and eventually as a primary nutrition contributor to the daily diet. Giving your baby too much water throughout the day can fill your child up and crowd out the important nutrition he or she should be receiving for growth and development.
