What are the signs of being too lenient with food?

There are several signs of being too lenient with food or having a permissive feeding style.

Regularly catering to your child’s food preferences may be a sign of being too lenient. Another sign is allowing too many sweets or fatty foods (not having limits around these types of food set) in your child’s diet. Being too permissive with food and feeding is associated with excess weight gain in children.

If you find the whole family has to consistently bend their own food choices to the will of one child, you might want to discuss family meal selection with your physician.
