Authoritative feeding is a way to feed children using love and limits.
The authoritative feeder will pay attention to appetite cues, practice responsive feeding, and heed his or her child’s food preferences. However, he or she will also maintain a structure for meals and snacking, while setting limits around unhealthy eating. Using an authoritative feeding style has been shown to encourage healthy food choices, appetite regulation, an active lifestyle, and a healthy weight status.
