A continuous glucose monitor (CGM) is a device used by Type 1 diabetics to provide a blood sugar reading continuously throughout the day and night by taking a glucose reading every five minutes.
This takes some of the guesswork out of managing diabetes. A small needle is inserted into the skin, where the blood glucose can be closely monitored and recorded. This helps parents and physicians recognize patterns of blood sugar highs and lows, allowing for better blood glucose control.
