5 breastfeeding positions to try

How to start breastfeeding

There is no one “right” way to breastfeed. Every mother and child is different.

While breastfeeding is considered one of the most natural things a mother and baby can do, it still is a learning curve and takes practice. Many different breastfeeding positions exist, and a new mom should not feel compelled to try anyone first or think one is “best”—do what works for you and your baby! Find what is comfortable, and realize that as your baby changes and grows, that may change over time.

  1. I was having trouble with my baby unlatching alot I wish someone would’ve told me about the laid back position sooner! The lactation consultant didn’t even know about it! Thank you for sharing this!

  2. Im just seeing this laid back position and I must say its looks very relaxing. Something i will try during nursing.

    1. Relaxing is exactly right – this and side-lying can actually give a mama a break (and her back too!). Great techniques to try!

  3. I wish I had known about the laid back feeding position prior to starting breastfeeding. It has become a great way to comfortably feed my little one.

    1. Yes, isn’t it interesting how this position is so rarely taught? I have found that few women are told about it, but it really can be a lifesaver!
