Baby development: Your 5 month old

Stranger danger

Stranger anxiety is a good sign that your baby is developing normally.

As your baby learns to distinguish you and your spouse from strangers, he or she may no longer enjoy being held by others. This is called stranger anxiety, and it is completely normal for infants. If this anxiety causes any embarrassing situations, don’t stress. Simply share that it is a normal and healthy part of your baby’s development.
