9 ways sex can change after birth

Mismatched libido

Mismatched libidos can be very frustrating. The key is honesty and open communication so both partners understand what’s going on with each other.

You and your spouse may not be on the same page when it comes to sex. Some new parents have mismatched libidos following the birth of a child, thanks to different schedules and different mental states.

But there is no hard-and-fast rule about who is ready to go and who would rather hold off. For some couples, the mom will feel less sexual because of hormones, stress, and fatigue, while her partner is turned on by her new role as a mother. For other couples, the partner may be concerned about hurting the new mom or even have trouble seeing her in a sexual way.
