Baby development: Your newborn

Baby's first week

Your baby’s first week will be full of life’s necessities: eating, sleeping, and pooping.

Your first week with your baby will revolve around eating, sleeping, voiding and stooling.

Newborns should be feed on demand this week and you can expect them to sleep for 14 to 17 hours each day. Babies will normally void and stool at least once in the first day. As a general rule, pediatrician look for one wet diaper on day of life one, two on day two, three wet diapers on day of life three and so on.

Find out more about what to expect during the first week with Bundoo Pediatrician, Dr. Sara Connolly.
