Dr. Shepherd is an assistant professor in the OB/GYN Department at the University of Illinois at Chicago. As the Director of Minimally Invasive Gynecology, she has created a following among the community in offering patients laparoscopic surgical procedures.
Her multiple publications include a book chapter on Prevention and Management of Laparoscopic Complications as well as contributing as a medical expert in various journals including Women’s Day, Deseret News, LifeScript.com, Heart and Soul, Best Health, Healthgrades.com, and WebMD. She also appeared on the Dr. Oz show, CBS Up to the Minute, FOX News Good Day New York and Dallas, and the Steve Harvey show, as well as the local news in Chicago on WGN and WCIU “you&me in the morning” to discuss women’s health issues. She has learned from her patients in her practice that women’s health issues are not discussed enough and that there is a need have conversations on these matters that affect us. Women’s health spans the physical, emotional, and spiritual, and she will attempt to address as many of these topics as she can with her new outreach venture, Her Viewpoint, which was started in 2013.
She is excited to use her experiences to reach out to women to address their health issues and allow them to voice their concerns. Dr. Shepherd is actively involved in patient care, teaching residents, and research on fibroids and endometriosis. She has also given lectures nationally and internationally on women’s health, as well surgical techniques, fibroids, and endometriosis.
